📢 Aadhaar Now Mandatory for PAN Cards: New Rules Effective from July 1, 2025
Starting July 1, 2025, the Government of India has made it mandatory to provide and verify your Aadhaar number when applying for a new PAN card. This is part of a major reform to improve the use of Aadhaar in public services and ensure transparency in the tax system. 💡 What Has Changed? Earlier, you could apply for a PAN card using documents like ID proof and birth certificate without needing Aadhaar. Now: • You must enter your Aadhaar number while filling the PAN application form. • Aadhaar must be verified via OTP sent to your registered mobile number. 👉 Without completing these steps, your PAN will not be issued. 🔗 Important Update for Existing PAN Holders: If you already have a PAN card and haven't linked it to your Aadhaar yet, the deadline is December 31, 2025. Failure to link by this date will result in: • Your PAN becoming inoperative. • Inability to file income tax returns. • Banking, investments, and other financial services getting affected. • A ₹1,000 fine may also be imposed for delayed linking. 🎯 Why Has the Government Made This Change? The aim is to: • Prevent tax fraud and duplicate/fake PAN cards. • Strengthen digital KYC processes. • Speed up tax filing and refund procedures. • Support Digital India and e-Governance initiatives. According to CBDT officials, Aadhaar verification will ensure each person holds only one valid PAN card. 📝 How to Apply for a New PAN Card (from July
